It’s been one year since this wedding at the Algonquin Resort in St. Andrews by the Sea! If you haven’t heard of this place, it’s likely one of my favourites in Canada! I’ve had the chance to visit several times now and even shot one of my favourite weddings there a few years ago on Minister’s Island & Ticklebelly Hill so basically this place has a special place in my heart.
This small coastal town is located at the very south-eastern tip of New Brunswick so not entirely in the way if you’re driving through the Atlantic provinces but I promise it’s worth the stop! The town is quaint and colourful and the views are endless. St. Andrews also happens to have one of our favourite hotels, The Algonquin Resort! This place is not only gorgeous on the inside and outside, it’s seriously like being treated like royalty with a stay here. Amazing food, service and there’s always tons of activities to do whether indoors or outdoors – and the best of all, it’s dog friendly so we’ve always been able to bring our lovely dog Case!
When N & J contacted me to tell me about their wedding, I hadn’t even shot the other St. Andrews wedding yet but I was pumped with what was to come! N & J planned the sweetest day that started at the resort.. talk about waking up and rolling up next door to start photographing the getting ready portion of the day (#spoiled). As fellow dog lovers, N & J also was able to have their dogs present in the rooms with them as they were getting ready so of course, there were endless photos of them throughout the day! Some of my favourite photos of the day were actually from this part of the day because I was able to capture the loving relationship N has with her sister and mama!
They had their first look downstairs in the Carleton Rotunda (such a beautifully light room!!) before heading out to get some photos done right by the water. Since St. Andrews by the Sea is so scenic, everywhere you turn, there’s never a shortage of good photos spots! Their wedding ceremony was also in town at St. Andrews Baptist Church where it was intimate, cozy with her ring bearers/flower girls being the best greeters at the door!
The rest of the celebration continued at the Alongquin Resort – Shaunhnessy Room which ended in such a fun party. Lots of dancing, some fun jenga and polaroids! They even invited a live painting artist, Live Art by Najma, to paint their reception which was such a hit with everyone at the wedding to see her progress throughout the night. Sneak at a peek at the end of my post!
St. Andrews, New Brunswick is such a good spot for a ‘local’- Canadian destination wedding. Both weddings I’ve shot there now were destination weddings for the couples themselves, myself and for all of their guests. Some travelled more locally from New Brunswick/other Atlantic provinces but many also from the rest of the Canada and the world. For anyone considering eloping or doing a Canadian destination wedding, this is definitely the spot. This town is filled with many other beautiful spots to get married as well. But the best part is that there’s always a place like Algonquin Resort and many other local BnBs (I have some recos!) available for your guests to stay. There are endless stuff to do around town and it would make for such an unforgettable trip for everyone involved!
As always, let me know if you have any questions about the locations/weddings I’ve photographed! I’m always happy to share my experience to help you with your planning!
